The process leak at the Sturgeon Refinery site has been safely contained. The leak was limited to one unit. The rest of the refinery remains operational.

We continue to monitor the unit as we take the necessary steps to bring it back online. No further updates are planned at this time.

North West Redwater Partnership has responded to an incident at the Sturgeon Refinery site, located approximately 12 km east of the Town of Gibbons.

The incident is a process leak contained to one unit on the refinery site. Our first priority is to protect personnel on site, the public, and the environment. There are no injuries associated with this incident. Environmental monitoring is ongoing.

No action is required at this time by anyone nearby or travelling past the refinery site.
