Books for 400 Sturgeon Students

Have you read any good books lately?

For local Grade 3 students around Sturgeon County, the answer is a resounding, “YES!”

Nearly 400 students in 10 schools—from Alexander First Nation and Redwater to everywhere in between—received a brand-new book just in time for summer. The big smiles and excited whispers were contagious as the Grade 3 students waited to see which book was chosen specially for their class.

The books are a part of NWR Sturgeon Refinery’s support of The Educational Partnership Foundation’s Books for Kids program. Literacy and education are the cornerstones of success and getting their own book helps open a child’s imagination to wonderful things.

For the second year in a row, NWR’s participation in the program ensures all Grade 3 students in the Sturgeon School Division get a book to call their own…and can answer the question “Have you read any good books lately” with a resounding “YES!”
