Reducing Water Usage

January 12, 2016

North West Redwater Partnership will minimize fresh water use by utilizing highly efficient water treatment systems, maximizing air cooling for process purposes, and maximizing water recycling within the facility. Process water from the North Saskatchewan River will be treated and recycled multiple times. Surface water runoff from within the project site will be contained in engineered retention ponds and utilized for process purposes, again reducing the amount of fresh water being withdrawn from the North Saskatchewan River. Process water demands will be provided by existing third-party infrastructure to minimize the environmental footprint on the North Saskatchewan River in alignment with Alberta’s Water Management Framework.
