Sturgeon County’s fire cadets got a boost thanks to the recycling efforts of the Sturgeon Refinery.
Doug Bertsch, VP regulatory and stakeholder affairs for North West Redwater Partnership, gave county council an update on progress at the Sturgeon Refinery.
He also gave county fire chief Pat Mahoney a cheque for $8,000 to fund the county’s fire cadet program. The cash came from the company’s recycling efforts.
“We’re actually tracking 99 per cent plus in recycling our construction waste,” Bertsch said, the proceeds from which go towards charities such as the Sturgeon Foundation.
